Technical Operations

Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Supervisor - Ground Service Equipment and Facility Maintenance Operations - Denver, CO (DEN)

Overview

This supervisory position is required to manage all aspects of the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) and Facility Maintenance hub warehouses. This position is designed to ensure support and oversight for represented warehouse workgroups. These workgroups will provide dedicated parts and tooling support for our GSE and Facility Maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with all local customer bases ensuring positive customer relations and service-level goals achieved

  • Maintain a positive working together relationship in a union environment

  • Supervise Warehouse team performance and execution against all division and corporate objectives

  • Lead efficient Warehouse team operations in a positive, productive and safe work environment

  • Supervise warehouse productivity; coordinate training; manage employee dependability issues; support team recognition program as well as support employee accountability programs in accordance with policy

  • Lead safe and environmentally compliant warehouse operations

  • Support safety / OSHA, environmental and training program compliance

  • Maintain proactive communication and positive relations with warehouse team and customer group stakeholders

  • Manage accurate and effective customer reporting and communications programs while sustaining positive customer service and effectiveness ratings

  • Involve stakeholders ensuring warehouse scheduling meets work demands

  • Maintain staffing levels and ensure members are properly trained and equipped to support all job functions, including receiving, parts issues and receipts, physical inventory, safety, environmental and best housekeeping practices

  • Work with planning team and stakeholders to determine best economical stocking levels with consideration for local stock ordering intervals, vendor lead times while protecting critical part stock levels

  • Organize warehouse to optimize efficiency and throughput

  • Maintain a positive working together relationship in a union environment promoting teamwork and supporting members to meet or exceed established metric goals

  • Procure, maintain and control the required specialty tooling inventory to support our customers

  • Identify parts, alternates, vendor availability and pricing

  • Ensure parts warranty and cores are properly managed and controlled

  • In addition to Denver Warehouse (DEN), will also oversee and manage parts supplies into Phoenix (PHX) and Las Vegas (LAS)

Education

  • High School diploma, GED or the education equivalent (from another country) required

  • Post-secondary education in a technical or maintenance - related field in the automotive, trucking and/or facilities industries (or equivalent work experience) required

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in business/supply-chain or related field preferred

Certification

  • ASE Certification and/or related Skills/Trades Licenses preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of planning and execution of maintenance AND warehouse operations required

  • Ability to lead a team of maintenance personnel required

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office Products) required

  • Knowledge of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) / automotive-related maintenance operations, facilities / bulding maintenance skills, trades (such as Electrical, HVAC, Conveyor, Plumbing, building maintenance / systems) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum two years experience in a maintenance-related role required

  • Experience in facility and building maintenance/systems-related maintenance operations preferred

  • Lead or supervisory experience required

Other

  • Must possess a valid state issued driver's license

  • Limited travel (up to 10%) may be required

  • This is an operational position which may require you to be on-call and available at night and on weekends and holidays

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
