United Airlines Intern/Co-Op - Safety Engineering (Spring, Summer, & Fall 2020) in Chicago, Illinois

We are hiring interns for the Summer term and Fall semester where you will work side by side with our Technical Operations team, tackling problems and learning about our industry.

Internships are paid, and course credit hours may be considered depending on university’s guidelines. Interns are eligible for travel privileges, and some may be eligible for a one-time relocation stipend.

Interns are placed throughout our system, depending on the project / discipline. Following are possible locations:

Chicago, IL

Responsibilities:

  • Provide process improvement support to the Technical Operations Safety, Training and Tooling teams

  • Analyze current processes utilizing lean techniques to optimize current processes and propose recommendations for improvement

  • Evaluate current operational conditions and provide innovative solutions for inefficiencies

  • Assist in management and completion of various projects in the division, including formulating project plans, preparing cost analysis and presentation materials

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time in an Industrial or Management Engineering, or related engineering degree program

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools. Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Visio preferred.

  • Knowledge or experience with multi-media or design software a plus

  • Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in core engineering course work

  • Individual must be a rising junior (at minimum) when internship begins

  • If relocation is required, students must be willing to relocate and pay for own housing. If needed, United will provide air transportation to/from internship location

  • Work related travel may be required, individuals must be able to travel without any restrictions

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship
