Technical Operations

Technical Operations includes the maintenance, repair and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

Responsible for the development and administration of policies and procedures to ensure the quality of United’s jet fuel and related facilities, equipment and services.

  • Authors and approves UA fueling policies and procedures published in UA Fueling Manuals and issues variance/waivers to standards, as appropriate.

  • Plans, develops, instructs, and implements system airport fuel operational policies and procedures.

  • Works directly with key service providers and airport operations personnel.Participates in the development of fueler service levels, monitors company performance including on-time performance, system wide.

  • Monitors and audits performance to ensure contract compliance, focusing on managing the relationship between United and the fuel service providers.

  • Conducts training of service provider trainers and staff in UA fueling policies and procedures.

  • Provides technical assistance and interprets policies and procedures for field services to resolve issues or problems.

  • Coordinates functional responsibilities with field organizations and planning staffs.

  • Coordinates the activities of the designated station personnel responsible for station fueling activities.

  • Leads process improvement projects designed to promote reliability and product quality in a cost effective manner.

  • Attends industry or regulatory meetings as the designated company representative, and maintains liaison with the FAA or other regulatory agencies in routine matters.

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years in Fuel Mgmt. or satisfactory recent experience in Airport Operations, aircraft maintenance, inspection or engineering

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Bachelors or Advanced Degree; FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certification

  • Collaboration skills with peers, suppliers and Airport Operations

  • Understanding of related technical trends, requirements and implementation
