Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Technical Operations Analytics team is looking for a passionate Senior Analyst to turn data into information and information into insight to drive business decisions. The group strives to get the right work done on the right aircraft at the right location at the right time. To do this, we partner with business owners to pursue analytical opportunities within maintenance planning, supply chain, aircraft health monitoring, aircraft engineering, maintenance execution, and maintenance programs, among other areas.

We are seeking creative, driven, and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy tackling complex problems quantitatively. Individuals who have a desire to improve the performance of United's fleet and maintenance operation are encouraged to apply. This role requires not only analytics skills, but also strategic thinking and strong internal / external client relationships.

  • Mine data and provide accurate information, identify key issues and trends, apply rigorous analysis

  • Review existing reports, dashboards, and performance indicators to modify, enhance, and develop new reports and metrics

  • Extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis and models; complete ad-hoc reporting and data analysis

  • Continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies

  • Encourage development and sharing of internal best practices and foster collaboration with internal and external teams

  • Develop statistical models to improve forecasts, operational metrics, financial performance, etc.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations on operational performance to organizational leaders

This position is offered on local terms and conditions within United’s wholly owned subsidiary United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proven comfort with and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large data sets, pulling in relevant team members to address identified - and sometimes undiscovered - needs

  • Knowledge of predictive modeling, test design, and database querying

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships

  • Familiarity with relational database structures

  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)

  • Adept in building presentations for senior leadership team

  • Superior attention to accuracy and detail

  • At least 2-4 years of experience in analytics

  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field and/or MBA

  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: econometrics, machine learning, optimization, simulation, text analytics

  • Basic programming skills for web scraping and experience working with non-structured data

  • Understanding of airline maintenance operations

  • Take a project from the exploratory phase to completion by learning a business problem, finding the data required, building models from scratch, and deploying a solution to end users

  • Source and scope valuable new projects based on domain expertise and relationships with business groups

  • At least 1 year of airline experience
